Bio/CV: 

Chloé Mauvais is a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. She holds an M.A. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from UC Berkeley (2023) and a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from NYU (2020). Chloé researches how Latin American artists and writers grapple in their work with changing ideas of nature and climate. She is especially interested in how changes in literary form reflect changing ecologies. She is currently tracking the epistemological differences in nature, climate, and the human evolving as a response to accelerating global warming and developments in digital technologies. Her research interests also include artificial intelligence and robotic affects. Prior to beginning her PhD, Chloé worked as a Research Associate in Latin America Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, studying trade and supply chains throughout the Western Hemisphere. 

Chloé is currently Editor-in-Chief of the graduate student journal of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, LuceroShe also co-runs the Environmental Humanities Working Group. Formerly a semi-professional bike racer, Chloé spends her spare time teaching new cyclists how to race, and now focuses her training on middle-distance running.
