Daniela Rossell was born during the seventies, in Mexico. She studied theatre while attending the American School Foundation and became an actress by age sixteen. Rossell went on to study painting at the National School of Visual Arts (National Autonomous University of Mexico) but she soon dropped out and began shooting with an automatic camera instead. Since 1994 she has held numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums in Mexico City, New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Turin, and Paris. Her work has been shown at the Contemporary Art Museums in Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami as well as in P. S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, the Valencia Biennale and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico. Ricas y famosas, for which she is best known, summons a photographic project seven years in the making.
