Emerita Prof. Francine Masiello's debut novel The Tomb of the Divers (2024) will be presented at Libreria Pino (1501 Grant Avenue, San Francisco 94133) on Wednesday, February 19, from 6-8:30 pm.
The novel weaves an immigrant yam about small-time artists and crooks who, over the course of a century, wend their way from the Italian South to the anarchist enclaves of New Jersey and from fascist Italy during World War II to Buenos Aires after its "dirty war" of the 1980's. Masiello's multigenerational story upends our illusions of happy family ties as it braids the threads of history and fiction.
Francine Masiello will be in conversation with Dr. Nancy Katz.
