Macias Prieto, Carlos

Carlos Macías Prieto is a Ph.D. candidate in Hispanic Languages and Literatures (Degree expected May 2020). Prior to his graduate studies at Berkeley, Carlos completed a master’s degree in American Studies from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in Chicano Studies from UC Berkeley. His dissertation is tentatively titled: “Seventeenth Century Nahua Poetics: Domingo Chimalpahin and the Nahua Archive.” Carlos’s research interests include: Spanish-American Literature and Historiography; Nahua intellectuals of the 16th and 17th Centuries; colonial and contemporary Nahuatl; Postcolonial Studies; and Chicana/o literature.
