Alejandro Múnera is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Program in Critical Theory. His research traverses modern literature, visual art and critical theory from Spanish America, Brazil and the Caribbean, particularly focusing on queer culture and sexuality. His dissertation seeks to bridge the archives of homosexual counterculture from the 1970s with the bio-medical materialities and opacities produced by the viralization of HIV/AIDS during the rise of neoliberalism in Latin America.

During 2022-2023, Alejandro was an Erasmus fellow at the Latin American Institute at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. His poetry has been featured in Como la flor. Voces de la poesía cuir colombiana contemporánea (Planeta, 2021).
