What led you to study abroad? Why did you choose your country/program?

I wanted change and a new scenery! I choose a country that was rich with culture and passion. I wanted to continue to enhance my Spanish proficiency where I could gain higher vocabulary and be immersed in the culture.

What coursework did you take while abroad? How did courses abroad compare with Berkeley classes?

I took Spanish 25 and a Nahuatl class abroad. They were very interactive as we would all practice Nahuatl while going in our excursions, learning new words and phrases helped us stay connected as a group. The classes abroad were especially fun, since it is with a group you get to experience all the excursions with as well.

What was the most memorable/meaningful aspect of your time abroad?

I enjoyed having the honor to learn a language that has been slowly reviving its momentum. It was also fun to find community with other students, as we embarked on a journey that helped us grow and learn together.

What would you recommend to students considering studying abroad, especially if they share similar identities and/or are considering your country or program?

I would recommend to go into the program with an open mind! There are many opportunities to grow both personally and academically. It is a great way to create new experiences that will last you for a lifetime.
