Gimenes Hernandez, Monica

Originally from Brazil, Mônica Gimenes Hernández is a Ph.D. student in Hispanic Languages and Literatures at UC Berkeley. She holds a B.A. in Multimedia Studies: Journalism with a certificate in Latin American Studies, and an M.A. in Spanish from Florida Atlantic University. Prior to moving to California, she taught Beginning Spanish courses at FAU, and she worked at the Spain-Florida Foundation 500 Years promoting and celebrating Hispanic heritage in South Florida. Her current research interests are contemporary South American narrative, crime fiction, and literary journalism, with emphasis on gender, race and the environment.”
