Call for Papers: Graduate and Alumni Colloquium, 10 - 12 April, 2008
CALL FOR PAPERS: The graduate students of the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of California, Berkeley invite you to submit abstracts for the
UC Berkeley Graduate and Alumni Colloquium on Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Linguistics, and Cultures: Authors, Pirates and the Property (or Impropriety) of Ideas
to be held on April 10 th, 11th & 12th, 2008
We encourage the submission of papers on authorship, tradition, canon formation, intellectual property, creativity, innovation, authorship laws and regulations, copyright, tradition and originality, translation and adaptation, authorship borderlines and in the margin such as intertextuality, intratextuality -and all possible textualities - , plagiarism, quotation etc, in any realated field of Hispanic and Lusophone Literatures, Linguistics, or cultural production, such as theater, music, and cinema.
Papers may be presented in Spanish, Portuguese, or English, and may deal with any of the fields mentioned, in other languages of the Iberian and Iberian American worlds. Papers on underrepresented fields are particularly welcomed. Abstracts may be individual or collective. Individual presentations must not exceed 20 minutes (7-8 double spaced/12 point pages maximum), and panels should be limited to one hour.
Please submit an abstract of 250-500 words by email to spp_conf@berkeley.edu, no later than December 21st, 2007. The email should include the title of the presentation, your name, institutional affiliation, address and phone number. The abstract should be sent as attachment, with no personal information other than the title of the paper. Participants will be notified of acceptance by February 5, 2008.
